Top Five Groups that Advocate for Human, Civil and Migrants Rights

Several non-governmental organizations work towards protecting civil, human and migrant rights. The organizations protect and represent people who have been assaulted and discriminated. They guide and advise them on ways of getting justice. Some of the groups involved in this valuable course include:

  1. The Advocates for Human Rights

It is a global organization that works towards elevating human rights standards. Several volunteers support them. Jim and Larkin also have some partners that help them in offering their services. For more than 30 years, this group has ensured that children, women, and immigrants are represented in the court of law.

  1. Lawyers Committee for Civil Rights under Law

The United States president Johnn F. Kennedy requested for the formation of this group in 1963. The organization was to fight against racial discrimination. That was to be done through ensuring that people get equal opportunities regardless of their race.

They also represent African Americans who are discriminated since the African Americans are the minority groups in the United States and are faced with different kinds of challenges.

  1. ACLU Immigrants’ Rights Project

Jim and Mike serve as the executive team of this organization, and they have supported this group financially and intellectually. A lot of funds are needed for this noble course. The group focuses on protection of the rights of indigenous people. They are based in San Francisco. After the growth of gas pipeline, there was the need to protect the rights of these people. Its formation was aimed at ensuring adequate compensation.

  1. Lacey and Larkin Frontera Fund

The organization funds groups that protect human and civil rights. They are also inclined towards providing people with freedom of speech. Jim and Mike founded Phoenix New Times and Village Voice Media.

Jim Larkin and Michael Lacey were arrested and jailed by Sheriff Joe. They were arrested after publishing a controversial story about Sheriff. They got a compensation of a total of $3.75 million as a result of this arrest.

They decided to use this money to fund civil and human rights organizations. Their services have been felt in Arizona and the Mexican border.
