The Events Leading To Kevin Seawright Building RPS Solutions

August 11, 2017

One of the leaders working to address Baltimore’s housing situation is Kevin Seawright, a longtime certified accountant who has built his resume on accomplishments in real estate as well.

He announced on the Larry Brown radio show last year that he had started RPS Solutions, Inc., a new housing development and renovation company that has taken upon itself to turn expensive homes into more affordable units for lower income buyers and minority groups that have previously not been able to afford good housing.

But Seawright’s current job in Baltimore’s housing market started out in other public departments.

Kevin Seawright got his bachelor’s degree in accounting and finance, and after several years of gigs with small companies and non-profit groups, he went to work as an accountant for Baltimore’s Parks & Recreation department.

He was later promoted to manage the funding and infrastructure for the public school system and later brought analytical software known as CitiStat for the mayoral office to make informed decisions on all of Baltimore’s departments.

During his tenure as a Baltimore public accountant he helped the city allocate and reduce expenditures in the millions of dollars.

Seawright spent several years as a contracts manager and private accountant for Tito Contractors, a Washington D.C. commercial and residential construction company. He also completed a certification course in executive leadership at Notre Dame’s Mendoza Business School during this time. After undertaking several major building projects in D.C., Seawright was asked to lend his financial and contracting expertise to Newark’s Community Economic Development Corporation during which time Newark started rolling out numerous housing and business relocation initiatives. Two years later he moved back to Baltimore and began addressing the troubled housing market through RPS Solutions.

Seawright has lent his financial acumen and business leadership advice to many non-profit and educational groups such as the National Public Administrators Association and the National Forum of Black Public Accountants.

He’s also spent a lot of time working with young people’s leadership and troubled urban youth programs, and he’s also coached junior sports teams. He’s also a husband and father to a young daughter named Tia.
